What NWSA certification actually costs
Every number here is from the current NWSA Candidate Handbook (REV 10/25). Nothing is estimated, and the prep-course numbers are ours.
The fees NWSA charges

What a failed attempt really costs
The exam fee is the visible part. A fail means a second $274 application, and it means the weeks between attempts — time on a crew where the card you don't have decides which jobs you can be put on and, for TTT-2 and above, whether you can supervise at all.
The career path, end to end
Most tower technicians move TTT-1 → TTT-2 → one or more specialties. Each is a separate $274 exam:
- TTT-1 + TTT-2: $548 in exam fees.
- TTT-1 + TTT-2 + one specialty (A&L, ARC or Foreman): $822.
- All five: $1,370 — and every one of those exams can be failed and paid for again.
Recertification — the cost people forget
NWSA certifications are valid for five years. You must complete recertification during the 12 months before your expiration date. There is no grace period: if your certification lapses, you take the full exam again at the full fee. A Foreman or A&L certificant maintains all lower-level certifications by passing only the then-current Foreman or A&L exam, which is a real saving for anyone holding several cards.
For a company, that means every technician on the roster has a predictable date five years out — and most companies are not tracking it. A lapsed cert is a $274 exam, a technician who cannot be dispatched, and a scramble.

Competitor prices read from their own course pages on 31 October 2026. eSystem also sells an ARC course; neither sells A&L or Foreman prep — TTT-1 and TTT-2 have the established third-party prep market, which is why the specialty guides are harder to find than they are to pass.
Employers commonly pay the exam fee. Ask before you pay it yourself — and ask whether they will cover prep too, since a first-time pass is cheaper for them than a retake.

How much does the NWSA TTT-1 exam cost?
The exam application fee is $274 for every NWSA certification exam, including TTT-1, per the NWSA Candidate Handbook (REV 10/25). Retests and recertification exams are the same $274.
Is there a discount for retaking a failed NWSA exam?
No. There is no separate retest fee; a candidate who does not pass reapplies and pays the full $274 exam fee again.
How long is an NWSA certification valid?

Does my employer pay for NWSA certification?
Many tower and wireless contractors pay the $274 exam fee for their technicians and some pay for prep. NWSA does not set that policy; ask your employer before paying yourself.
Can the NWSA exam fee be waived or sponsored?
For one exam, yes. AT&T funded a programme, announced by NWSA in February 2025, covering a first Foreman Certification attempt for eligible TTT-2 holders while the money lasts.
