What is on the TTT-1 written exam

From the NWSA Candidate Handbook (CH REV 10/25): 85 questions, 90 minutes, online remote proctoring, $274 per sitting. Prerequisite: None — TTT-1 is the entry certification. NWSA sets the passing score through a standard-setting process and does not publish it.

DomainShare of exam
Planning the scope of work and job logistics~15%
Fall protection, climbing and rescue~30%
Hoisting equipment and rigging~20%
Structures~15%
Appurtenance installation and maintenance~20%

The 30% domain — fall protection, climbing and rescue — is where most first-time candidates lose the exam, not because they can’t climb but because the questions are worded the way the standards are written, not the way a foreman talks. The Safety & Fall Protection and Climbing & Telecom modules are built around exactly that gap.

What is in the guide

Who it is for

Anyone sitting the TTT-1 for the first time, or re-sitting it after a fail. There is no prerequisite for TTT-1, so this is where every tower technician starts. Employers who put new hires through the written before their first climb use the crew version of this same course.

How it works

  1. Pay by card at checkout. Your licence key appears on screen and in your email immediately.
  2. Open the course, enter the key and your email once. Access runs 30 days from that moment, on any device.
  3. Work the modules in order, drill the flashcards, then sit the timed practice exam. Book the real exam with NWSA when the weak-area report comes back clean.
Buying for a crew? Every company key opens all five courses. Seat packs from 5 technicians and annual roster licences from $99 per tech per year →

Questions people ask

Is this the official NWSA TTT-1 exam or study material?

No. NWSA Study Guide is an independent preparation course built from the domains and weightings NWSA publishes in its Candidate Handbook. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by NWSA, and finishing it does not grant a credential — you still register for and pass the official TTT-1 exam through NWSA’s remote proctoring.

How many questions are on the NWSA TTT-1 exam and how long is it?

85 multiple-choice questions in 90 minutes, delivered by online remote proctoring. The fee is $274 per sitting, including retests (Candidate Handbook, REV 10/25).

What do I get for the price?

9 modules (19 lessons) covering every domain above, module quizzes, 63 flashcards, a 50-question timed practice exam, a weak-area report and a completion record. 30-day access from the day you activate, on any device. English, Spanish and Russian — every lesson, quiz and flashcard.

How fast can I start?

Immediately. Pay by card, your licence key is on screen and in your email within seconds, and the course opens in the browser — nothing to download.

What if it isn’t what I need?

Every course carries a 7-day money-back guarantee. Email support@nwsastudyguide.com and it is refunded.
