What is on the Foreman written exam
From the NWSA Candidate Handbook (CH REV 10/25): 70 questions, 90 minutes, online remote proctoring, $274 per sitting. Prerequisite: An active TTT-2 certification. NWSA sets the passing score through a standard-setting process and does not publish it.
That $274 is the standard fee. A first Foreman attempt may be sponsored under the AT&T-funded programme NWSA announced in February 2025, while funds last.

The Foreman exam is short — 70 questions in 90 minutes — and the leadership questions are scenario-based: what do you do when a hand shows up unfit, when a customer asks you to skip a step, when DOT hours run out mid-job. The guide walks each of those, along with the rigging, EHS and OSHA calls a Foreman is expected to make.

1. A crew member is hurt and needs medical care beyond first aid. When does the Foreman report it?
- At the end of the shift
- Within 24 hours

Answer: C. Immediately. Injuries requiring medical attention beyond first aid are reported immediately to management and, depending on severity, to OSHA within required timeframes.
2. On the job site, who is directly responsible for making sure the crew follows OSHA?
- The company safety officer
- The Foreman designated as Competent Person
- The regional manager
- The tower owner
Answer: B. The Foreman designated as Competent Person is directly responsible for enforcing OSHA compliance on site.
3. A worker invokes stop work authority on a task you assigned. As Foreman, you should:
- Override them — you assigned the task
- Reassign the task to another worker immediately
- Stop the work, evaluate the hazard, and not resume until resolved
- Document it as insubordination
Answer: C. Stop work authority applies to every worker regardless of seniority. The work stops, the hazard is evaluated, and work does not resume until the hazard is resolved and documented. Retaliation is prohibited.
