Free NWSA Practice Tests

All five certifications · weighted to the handbook domains · explanations cite the standard · updated for Candidate Handbook REV 10/25

Five free practice tests, one for each NWSA certification. Each one is weighted the way the Candidate Handbook weights the real exam, scores instantly, and tells you which domain cost you points. Every explanation names its source — OSHA 1926, ANSI/ASSP A10.48, ANSI Z359, ASME B30, TIA-222, Motorola R56 — so you are not taking our word for it.

Every exam costs $274, retakes are $274 with a 30-day wait, and all are multiple choice delivered by online remote proctoring with a live proctor. There is no practical exam — NWSA discontinued it in January 2024. NWSA does not publish a passing score. Certification is valid for five years.

How NWSA tests, and what changed in 2026

Since September 1, 2026 NWSA enforces a zero-tolerance exam-environment policy: a candidate whose room does not meet every requirement — alone, enclosed, door and windows covered, whiteboards and extra monitors covered unless the exam type permits otherwise — is not permitted to test. NWSA has not published what happens to the $274 in that case, and applications are non-refundable. Set your room up days before, not the morning of. The full detail is in our exam guide and exam-day checklist.

In October 2025 NWSA revised the TTT-1, TTT-2 and Foreman exams to ANSI/ASSP A10.48-2023 and published Candidate Handbook REV 10/25 with new domain weightings. Practice material built on the older outline teaches the wrong proportions. Everything on this site is keyed to REV 10/25.

Free test versus the full course

The free tests are 15–25 questions each: enough to find your weak domain, not enough to drill it. The paid courses are the drill — full-length timed exams in the real format (85, 100, 70 or 95 questions), lessons on every domain, flashcards, and a weak-area report that updates as you study. TTT-1 is $39; all five courses together are $179. Each course is available in English, Spanish and Russian. See the study guides →

Drill one domain at a time

TTT-1 and TTT-2 also have ten-question tests on each exam domain — fall protection, rigging, structures, planning and appurtenance installation for TTT-1; fall protection & rescue, rigging & gin poles and structures & modification for TTT-2. Not sure what a term means? The tower technician glossary defines the vocabulary the exams use.

Frequently asked questions

Which NWSA certification should I take first?

TTT-1 is the entry-level certification and has no prerequisite. TTT-2 requires an active TTT-1. A&L, Foreman and ARC each require an active TTT-2 (Candidate Handbook REV 10/25). Passing a higher exam at recertification maintains the lower certifications. Our which-certification guide walks through it.

How long is NWSA certification valid?

Five years, to the exact date. Recertification is retaking the same exam at the same $274 fee; NWSA does not publish a grace period. ARC recertification requirements had not yet been finalized by NWSA as of the REV 10/25 handbook.

Is the NWSA exam computer-based?

Yes. Since January 2024 every NWSA certification exam is delivered by Online Remote Proctoring (ORP) — you take it on your own computer with a live proctor. The practical exam component was discontinued at the same time.

What score do I need to pass the NWSA exam?

NWSA does not publish a passing score. Exams are criterion-referenced and the cut score is set by a panel of subject-matter experts; results are reported as pass/fail with a domain-by-domain breakdown. Any site quoting a specific percentage is guessing.

How much does the NWSA exam cost?

$274 for every NWSA certification — TTT-1, TTT-2, A&L, Foreman and ARC. Retakes are the same $274, with a 30-day wait between attempts. Fees are set by NWSA and can change; nws-a.org is the authority.

Does this free practice test count toward certification?

No. Only NWSA issues certification, and only by passing the official exam at nws-a.org. This test is independent practice material to find weak areas before you pay the exam fee.

Exam facts on this page are from the NWSA Candidate Handbook, CH REV 10/25. Fees, formats and rules change — the handbook is the authority. NWSA Study Guide is independent and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or recognized by the National Wireless Safety Alliance.
